You're booked, and I'm looking forward to it. Here's everything you need to feel relaxed and ready. And one thing to get out of the way first: you don't need to know how to pose. That's my job, and I'll coach you the whole way through.
You'll get clear direction from start to finish, including help with posing and the expressions that look most like you. We'll shoot a range of angles and looks so you end up with real options to choose from. Most sessions run about 30 to 45 minutes, though I set aside a full hour so we're never rushed.
→Solid colors photograph best. Reach for neutrals and jewel tones: black, navy, gray, white, deep greens and blues.
→Avoid busy patterns, anything overly trendy, and clothing with logos.
→Make sure everything fits well and feels comfortable. Wear something you feel confident in.
Hair. Freshly styled, clean, and neat, the way you normally wear it.
Makeup. Keep it natural and photo-friendly. Go easy on heavy SPF and anything with shimmer, since both can affect how skin reads on camera.
Glasses. Clean the lenses, and if you can, skip transition lenses for the session. Wear them if they're part of your everyday look, and we'll grab a few without them too.
Facial hair. Trim or shave however you prefer, just keep it neat.
Everything above still applies. A branding session just asks a bit more, since these photos are working harder for you.
→Bring a few looks. Plan for 2 to 3 outfits, not just one. Think of them as a range: one polished, one more relaxed, maybe one with a little color or personality.
→Think about where they'll live. Website, LinkedIn, an about page, a speaker bio, press. Different uses want different framing, so tell me what you have in mind. If you'll need both vertical and horizontal versions of a shot, just say so.
→Bring your tools. If something represents what you do, bring it. A laptop, a notebook, your products, a coffee cup. These make for natural working shots that say more than a plain headshot.
→Shooting outdoors? Dress for the location and the weather, bring a layer in case it's cool, and wear comfortable shoes for getting between spots.
→Hair and makeup. My advice across the board: look like yourself. Headshots are not glamour photos, and the goal is a true, professional version of you, not a different look. Professional hairstyling is a nice option if that's something you enjoy. Makeup, though, I recommend doing yourself, since professional makeup application is often done for in-person impact and tends to read differently on camera than your everyday routine.

You've got this, and I've got you. Come as your best, authentic self, relax, and trust the process. You'll be in good hands the whole way.
