As a headshot photographer, these are the things I hear on a daily basis. I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way, really!
First, know that there is absolutely a difference between a portrait, a selfie and a headshot. Headshots have a job - a good headshot not only captures your image, but it hints at your personality, confidence and creates the all important “first impression”.

Nah…this is where I come in. Rest assured I will provide you with all the information and guidance you need to nail the look that you need for your profession. Need to look confident? We got it. The BASIC headshot session is done at the Fotoplicity studio, takes about 30-45 minutes and includes the following:

PREP GUIDE
Upon booking you will receive an e-guide which will walk you through what to wear, what kind of jewelry works and doesn’t, what colors to consider and other prep tips.
PHONE CONSULTATION
If you have questions, or need a little extra guidance you can schedule an optional phone consultation.
POSING/EXPRESSION COACHING
No need to practice in the mirror, I will help you achieve the look you are going for. From where to place your hands, how to relax your shoulders, angle your head and reduce a double chin - I will guide you!
IMMEDIATE IMAGE REVIEW
When done in the studio we will take breaks from shooting to review the images. This is where you tell me exactly what you like, what you don’t and then we’ll go back to the camera and make any needed adjustments. The more you share, the better the outcome.
RETOUCHING
If you wake up the day of your session with a large pimple on your cheek, don’t sweat it. Your selected headshots will be edited to perfection. Any blemishes, dark eye circles or random eyebrow hairs will be retouched.
How to Book
Clicking the “Request Session” will take you to a booking calendar. Select days each month are specifically set aside for headshots.
After you submit your request, you will receive an email with the final booking questionnaire & invoice.
It can take up to 24 hours to receive this form.

Did you Miss senior Picture day?
Fotoplicity can replicate your school’s yearbook/senior portraits. Bring a sample image and any yearbook company specs (you can get this from your yearbook administrator) and we’ll get that photo! Images will be provided digitally - it is your responsibility to get the photos to the yearbook company.
Pricing/booking process is the same as the Basic Headshot Session.
Girl’s black velvet, drape is provided.
Boys must wear their own suit/tie.
You must bring your own cap/gown if you want photos in them.
Questions & Answers

It’s a good idea to bring a couple of options. Unless you plan on doing 3/4 length shots, you only need to bring shirts/blouses/tops. A good rule of thumb is to mix up the options with some formal and casual wear and neutral as well as bright colors.
Bring attire that reflects you and your personality. Do try and avoid very busy patterns. Solid colors often work best. -
At the Fotoplicity Studio, we will review each of your images together during the session to determine it’s viability for use in representing your personal brand.
If done at another location all your best shots will be uploaded into a watermarked proofing gallery where you can choose your images for retouching and download.

The basic headshot session includes two fully retouched high resolution digitals with web resolution copies. You have the ability to purchase additional images if desired.

Yes. This is called a “Session Buyout”. You may purchase all the viable UNEDITED images from your session for $600. You may add retouching to any buy out image for $30 each.
This option is a great option for established actors or models who need a large variety of imagery.

We sure can! The Fotoplicity studio has a beautiful treelined parking lot which offers plenty of greenery background opportunities. We can also utilize the glass/brick building for a more “urban” background.

You can add a passport photo to any BASIC headshot session for an additional $35. Fotoplicity DOES NOT offer passport photos as a stand-alone service.

Your images will be ready for download two days after your session via an online gallery.
Same-day or rush retouching is available for an additional fee. -
Students of The Mason Gross School of the Arts are eligible for a discounted headshot session. A valid student ID is required. Please inquire directly for rates.
