I recently sat down with NJ Voyager Magazine to talk about how Fotoplicity actually came to be, and it's not the story you'd expect from a photographer.

I started college planning to major in mechanical engineering. After that I taught K-12 for a few years, then spent time as a Curriculum Development & Education Director for an Estée Lauder company in NYC. When my second child was born, I stepped back to be home for a while. Somewhere in there, I started a full time Etsy business sewing custom high chair covers, sewing six days a week and keeping my mailman busy every single day.

It was the sewing business that led me to a camera in the first place. I needed better photos of what I was making, so I picked up my first Nikon DSLR. I never expected that to turn into anything, but I started seeing light and composition differently, and people noticed. In 2014 I put the sewing business down and started Fotoplicity.

Twelve years later, I'm still here. What started as a mom taking candid photos has grown into a studio in East Brunswick, a corporate headshot business I'm actively building out, and clients I've had the privilege of photographing for over a decade.
